Bike rides for big and little people

If you’re searching for traffic-free cycling routes in Dagenham, Eastbrookend Country Park and the wider Dagenham Corridor is the perfect place to bring your bike. Whether you’re looking for a short family cycling route or some time out to yourself, you’ll find the park is a very special place to be. Please note that cycling is not permitted in The Chase Local Nature Reserve. Cycle racks are located outside Eastbrookend Discovery Centre.

Cycling safety

Eastbrookend Country Park has many different people using this beautiful site for a variety of reasons. It can be a busy park, so we ask you to respect others at all times, particularly taking note of the following:

  • if you come across horses, please pass wide and slow. Stop where appropriate.
  • pass pedestrians at a reduced speed and use your bell to give warning that you are nearby
  • cycling is not permitted in any part of The Chase Local Nature Reserve

Learn to cycle

If you’re not fully confident riding a bike yet, there are local organisations who can help you improve your skills and boost your confidence! The national cycling and walking charity Sustrans is involved with the Barking & Dagenham project ‘Greening the Fiddlers’ in Becontree Heath, where they hold regular ‘Learn to Ride’ cycling sessions.

Locally based Vandome Cycles also offer ‘Bikeability’ cycle training for all levels.
